About Me

Hi, I’m Katie - a contemporary wildlife artist specialising in expressive, colour-driven elephant paintings.

After completing a Fine Art certificate, I developed my practice through instinct, experimentation, and a deep fascination with the natural world. What began as a childhood obsession with drawing animals has evolved into a focused body of work exploring texture, movement, and personality within wildlife.

Elephants have been a constant subject in my life. I was sketching them on my bedroom walls at ten years old (with my mum’s reluctant approval), and I’ve never really stopped. There’s something endlessly compelling about them - the intricate textures of their skin, their scale, their quiet intelligence, and their emotional presence. They offer infinite creative possibility.

My work blends realism with expressive abstraction. While the structure and form remain true to the animal, colour becomes intuitive - layered, bold, and often unexpected. I’m drawn to contrasts: strength and softness, control and chaos, detail and freedom.

Each painting is less about creating a perfect representation and more about capturing energy and character. Through elephants, I explore themes of resilience, individuality, and connection to the wild.

My pieces are colourful, textured, and slightly untamed - a reflection of both the subject and the artist behind the canvas.
